17 Kpop Fandom Names & Their Beautiful Meanings
Without any doubt, Fandoms are an important part of K-pop and it is because
of their support, love and loyalty that all artists are able to continue what
they love. This is why, Fandom names are selected after careful consideration
with special meanings behind them. The following is a compilation of 17 such
examples.
1. EXO-L (EXO)
The L in EXO-L stands for Love representing that EXO will
love their fans forever. Moreover, EXO originally had two sub-units namely
Exo-K and Exo-M and the letter L comes between the two in the alphabetic
order.
2. A.R.M.Y (BTS)
The word ARMY symbolises two meanings. The first being that BTS has a whole
army of fans behind them complementing the meaning of BTS (Bangtan
Seonyeondan/ Bulletproof Boy Scouts) whereas A.R.M.Y is also an acronym for
‘Adorable Representative MC for Youth’.
3. BLINK (BLACKPINK)
‘BLINK’ simply represents the whole group’s name being a fusion of
‘Black’ and ‘Pink’
4. ONCE (TWICE)
Twice’s fans are called ‘ONCE’ meaning that if people will love them even
once, the girls will repay them with twice the love!
5. REVELUV (RED VELVET)
REVELUV is a combination of the group’s name with Love
(Red Velvet + Love = Reveluv) Moreover, the word ‘Reve’ means
‘Dream’ in French symbolising that the fans helped their dreams come
true.
6. iGOT7/AHGASE (GOT7)
The number 7 is considered to be lucky. The name iGOT7 literally
means that the fans have gotten GOT7 and will always be there for them.
Moreover, in korean, iGOT7 sounds similar to ‘Ahgase’ which means
‘baby bird’ explaining why their lightsticks are shaped like a bird.
7. MONBEBE (MONSTA X)
‘Mon Bebe’ are two French words combined together meaning
‘My Baby’, thus stating that the fans are their babies.
8. NCTZEN (NCT)
The name NCTZEN simply is a play on the group’s name (NCT) standing for
‘Citizens of NCT’
9. MELODY (BTOB)
BTOB stands for ‘Born To Beat’ and every beat requires a
Melody which is what their fans mean to them.
10. CARAT (SEVENTEEN)
Carat is the standard unit of measuring the size and value of diamonds.
Following Seventeen’s concept of Diamonds, this name means that the
fans are the ones who make the group (diamond) shine.
11. NEVERLAND (G)I-DLE
Neverland is a reference to the famous imaginary land in 'Peter Pan'
where nobody gets old symbolising that (G)I-DLE and their fans will stay
together forever.
12. MIDZY (ITZY)
The word Midzy in korean (믿지, mid jee) means ‘to trust’, thus
representing the mutual trust and love between fans and ITZY.
13. AROHA (ASTRO)
AROHA is a combination of ASTRO, Heart and All
Fans representing their love for all of their fans.
14. SHAWOLS (SHINEE)
Shawols is short for SHINEE’s World, meaning that the fans are their
whole world.
15. ATINY (ATEEZ)
ATINY is a comination of 'ATEEZ' and
'DESTINY' symbolising that ATEEZ and their fans were destined to meet
each other.
16. MOOMOO (MAMAMOO)
Moomoo was derived from the ‘MOO’ in Mamamoo. Moreover, Moo means
‘radish’ in Korean which is why some fans brought actual radishes at
concerts prior to the release of their radish shaped lightstick.
17. INNER CIRCLE (WINNER)
The name ‘Inner Circle’ means that the fans are the heart or form
the core of the group. Moreover, Inner Circle in Korean,내부원 (naebuwon) sounds a lot like ‘Number One’ in English meaning that the fans
are also Winners.
